  • YME Staff Favorites: Jafar

This season, YME Universe will include several series of "Staff Favorites", where our employee's will give you a private tour of the top 5 things they're craving right now and their seasonal favorites from our universe.

Next up is Jafar, our trilingual king of modernized cool on the the third floor. Jafar has tons of personality and his style is on a whole other level, Jafar is fearless when it comes to accessorizing and mixing brand identities. His laidback stance and attention to details is what makes us wonder, what are Jafar's fall favorites?

    YME1610-26 2

See? On another level. Jafar is wearing the Craig Green x Moncler collaboration bomber jacket and the Stone Island Shadow Project trousers. This dark and industrial combination is just what we want going into the colder months of AW17.

    YME1610-32

Jafar is almost never seen without a beanie, his latest favorite is the Tom Wood beanie in black with a minimal and sleek leather patch.

    YME1610-31

Like we mentioned earlier, Jafar has a special talent when it comes to accessorizing, wether he's painting on his clothes or just mixing textures - Jafar has a personal jewelry collection worth envying. Rings by Tom Wood and Bracelet by AllBlues.

    YME1610-29

When it comes to footwear, Jafar has a Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde kind of personality. Some days he's rocking chunky Raf Simons Ozweego's and other days he will be wearing super sleek and minimalistic Common Projects.

  • What is a TERREX TRACEFINDER

Opened in 2014, Cleveland’s Xhibition has quickly made a big impression - showcasing high-quality, hard-to- nd clothing and footwear from across the globe to the American midwest. Founded upon the ambitions to “inform, educate and entertain”, Xhibition has managed to blur the line between retailer and gallery space; communicating the story behind every brand. Together with adidas Consortium, Xhibition goes a step further and takes the story of Cleveland to the rest of the world.

    adidas-consortium-xhibition-terrex-tracefinder-05_preview

Sat on the southern shore of Lake Erie, Cleveland is subjected to tough winters. Heavy snowfall and cold conditions make high-performing, technical outerwear a fundamental part of daily urban life. Xhibition presents a Terrex Trail nder which combines outdoor performance requirements with striking aesthetics  for the streets and the ridges.

    adidas-consortium-xhibition-terrex-tracefinder-02_preview

The model contrasts grey boiled wool with black leather overlays, the result is a compact, weather-resistant upper designed to keep the wearer well protected. A rugged, hardwearing sole is vital for grip but it is complemented by a partially exposed BOOST midsole for further cushioning. Here, Xhibition cleverly co-opts a technology developed for runners and implements it to provide outstanding comfort levels for a new, harsher environment.

    adidas-consortium-xhibition-terrex-tracefinder-03_preview

While the strap provides enhanced ankle stability, it is also a small nod to adidas’ sporting heritage - evoking images of an era in which most tennis, basketball and running shoes were constructed with this detail to add further support. The strapping has three subtle stripes and with the bright, eye-catching lacing it creates a bold accent against the darker tones of the body.

    adidas-consortium-xhibition-terrex-tracefinder-04_preview

While developing the model, Xhibition imagined the wearer lost in the nearby mountains of Appalachian Ohio. The goal was to create a shoe suitable for survival. If the Terrex Trail nder was good enough to survive in the wilderness, then it would also stand up to the challenges of urban life. Designing functional footwear that does not look out of place on a store’s sneaker shelf presents a further challenge, but with smart use of materials and careful detailing the Terrex Trail nder bridges the gap effortlessly.

The adidas Consortium x Xhibition TERREX TRAIL will be dropping in store on October 28th at 10:00 and if there's stock left the remaining sizes will be dropped online at 18:00

  • adidas Consortium x Kasina dropping soon!

Kasina is one of the driving forces behind modern Koreas’s thriving streetwear scene. Founded in Busan in 1997, Kasina has since opened stores across the country and overseen the nation’s emergence on the international style stage. Over the past two decades, Kasina and adidas have become frequent collaborators - in May 2016, the adidas concept shop ‘DAS 107 by Kasina’ opened in Seoul’s Hongdae neighborhood.

    adidas-consortium-Kasina-superstar-boost-02_preview

While the store is a thoroughly contemporary space, the new Kasina Superstar BOOST looks towards both Korea’s heritage and the adidas archive for references. It commemorates the retailer’s 20th anniversary and the opening of its new retail location “1997”.

The major inspiration comes from “Taesahae”, a traditional form of footwear built by craftsmen and worn by Korean noblemen for several centuries. Elegant and clean, Taesahae are normally made from black and white leather with exposed stitching attaching the upper to the sole. Kasina seeks to mirror the Taesahae’s luxury with this Superstar.

    adidas-consortium-Kasina-superstar-boost-03_preview

The original Superstar is a classic, its unmistakable rubber shell toe makes it instantly recognizable. Here, Kasina subtly alters the model, the bone white upper is made with lavish nubuck and the shell toe is constructed from the same soft, meticulously tanned leather – replacing the signature rubber cap. A welted leather band outlines the iconic Superstar silhouette and its 3-Stripes branding only appears as tonal stitching on both sides. The gum sole features a contrasting white seam similar to the Taesahae and is tted with a BOOSTTM midsole to provide modern comfort and cushioning. This juxtaposition captures a central aspect of Korean life: historically referred to as “The white-clad folk”, Korea is a country of rich tradition. However technology, innovation and economic growth has turned its cities into advanced metropolises; modern Korea is a nation where history and the cutting-edge often sit side by side. A prominent embellishment on the Superstar is the eyelet at the top of the tongue. Made from reddish acetate, it is a nod to mother-of-pearl - the iridescent substance often used for buttons in Korean clothing and furniture design.

    adidas-consortium-Kasina-superstar-boost-05_preview

Kasina’s Superstar BOOST perfectly demonstrates how a collaborator can breathe new life into a classic model with an already long and fabled history. By exploring Korea’s sartorial heritage, Kasina has helped create outstanding contemporary casual footwear.

    adidas-consortium-Kasina-superstar-boost-01_preview

The adidas Consortium x Kasina Superstar BOOST will be dropping on the 21st of October at 10:00 in store and at 18:00 online.

  • YME Staff Favorites: Nate

This season, YME Universe will include several series of "Staff Favorites", where our employee's will give you a private tour of the top 5 things they're craving right now and their seasonal favorites from our universe.

Next up is our dearest Nate all the way from South London to YME Universe. Nate can be found on the first floor pushing sneakers like a mad ting. Nate's style is heavily inspired by his roots and his vibe is a true breath of fresh air when it comes to sneakers and streetwear.

    YME0210-22

Nate is currently loving our selection of North Face Nuptse Jackets like this one in yellow print.

    YME0210-24

Nate is all about sneakers - and his selection for this round of Staff Favorites really shows his versatility. Nate is currently loving the all time classic Old Skool Vans in Black and White, the NikeLab Komyuter Premium in the sequioa/gum colorway and the North Face down slippers in black.

    YME0210-21

Last but not least is the NikeLab PA Vest in Hazel Rush / Black. This super detailed and technical vest can either be worn for running or just for layering an outfit. Nate looks sick in this season's NikeLab.

    YME0210-19

  • YME Staff Favorites: Morten

This season, YME Universe will include several series of "Staff Favorites", where our employee's will give you a private tour of the top 5 things they're craving right now and their seasonal favorites from our universe.

Next up is Morten, the department manager for our men's floor. Morten has been our numero uno since we first opened. His style is a beautiful juxtapositioning of high-end mixed with the right amount of streetwear. What we mean by that is that Morten can and will be seen in Saint Laurent, mixed with Adidas or Alyx mixed with Nike. His creativity when it comes to dressing the contemporary man makes us wonder - what are his favorites from the mens department?

    YME0210-61

Morten owns a lot of stand out pieces from the fresh new brand, ALYX. As you can see above, Morten mixes these industrial elements with sleek nike sneakers, black denims and sunglasses from Garreth Leight.

    YME0210-56

One of Morten's favorite pieces right now is the ALYX rollercoaster belt, here shown in the Mini Stubai version. This belt has been seen on everyone from Asap Rocky to Aleali May and is inspired by the rollercoaster belts used at Six Flags in the U.S. The belt is paired with one of Morten's most trusted pieces - black denim jeans. These ones are from the Norwegian-brand Tom Wood.

    YME0210-58

Morten also loves the t-shirt selection from ALYX Visuals, especially because the t-shirts are made of 50% cotton and 50% recycled polyester. The t-shirts feels very thick and luxurious - whilst still being incredibly soft.

    YME0210-55

One of the latest brands to enter YME Universe is Garreth Leight eyewear. Morten loves these sunglasses in particular because they can be folded up and placed in this neat little leather pouch.

    YME0210-53

Morten also loves a good read, and this book from Rizzoli on Fragment and Hiroshi Fujiwara is just what Morten wants right now on his coffee table for autumn winter 2017.

Japan is lettered in an original script along the side. Another dragon, an original graphic design, graces the sole.

  • YME Staff Favorites: Mikkel

This season, YME Universe will include several series of "Staff Favorites", where our employee's will give you a private tour of the top 5 things they're craving right now and their seasonal favorites from our universe.

Next one up is Mikkel on our 3rd floor, Mikkel has an eclectic style and loves quirky pieces that he mixes up with classic and timeless garments.

    YME0210-39

This coat from Moncler is super sleek and timeless and goes with pretty much everything. I love stripes, and especially this top right here with the sleek Aimé Leon Dore tonal embroidery on the chest.

    YME0210-41

Aimè Leon Dore top and Moncler down jacket

    YME0210-42

A classic black trouser is always good - these ones from are Comme des Garcons are really good for everyday use, the fit is also incredible.

    YME0210-43

I love a good perfume and the Margiela Replica series is my current favorite - especially the "Dancing on the Moon" version. I also really like the hats from Neighborhood this season, they really do take the outfit to the next level.

  • adidas Consortium - United Arrows & Sons x Slam Jam

Japan’s United Arrows & Sons and Italy’s Slam Jam were both established in 1989. Since then, United Arrows & Sons has opened 100 stores throughout Japan while Slam Jam has grown into a European menswear institution with stores in Ferrara and Milan. Both retailers have become the standard-bearers for contemporary fashion in their home countries.

    Consortium_UA&SxSJ_Concept_Shot_1

As partner in the Sneaker Exchange 2017, adidas Consortium challenged the two to communicate, collaborate and discover common ground upon which to deliver a sneaker pack. An early conversation topic was construction, and in particular, the textiles used to make great footwear. Together, United Arrows & Sons and Slam Jam present two luxury leisure shoes: a Gazelle and a Campus, each created using materials with a regional context and locally-sourced materials. The execution is experimental – an exploration in how repurposing high-quality textiles can result in outstanding sneakers.

    YME0210-36

The Campus is the opulent of the duo with an all-white upper. The 100% organic cotton used here is a reference to high-quality Japanese IKEUCHI ORGANIC towelling. The area around the ankle and its interior are also made of terry cloth, giving it a ruffled, distressed appearance with a luxury feel. In Japan it is customary to remove your outdoor shoes upon entering a house. With these Campus one gets the “always at home” feeling. They are even softer than most indoor slippers.

    YME0210-38

IKEUCHI ORGANIC towelling is used again on the interior of the crimson Gazelle. Its upper is made of Alcantara®, the high-quality and innovative material utilised across countless applications. Founded in 1972 by a joint-venture between Japanese and Italian companies, Alcantara® represents one of the leading Made in Italy brands with a contemporary lifestyle approach. United Arrows & Sons’ design partnership with Slam Jam nods back to a previous collaboration between two companies from their respective nations. There is further modification: replacing the original Gazelle tongue with a ribbed Samba tongue leads to a hybrid that - given the choice of materials - still works harmoniously.

    Consortium_UA&SxSJ_Concept_Shot_3

While materials and colours are subtle, branding on both models is eye-catching. Besides logo detailing on the tongue labels, “United Arrows & Sons and Slam Jam” appears on the white Campus’ outsole and laces, while “Gazelle” and “Gat-zelle” - the original Japanese name for the model – is printed on either side of its crimson counterpart.

    Consortium_UA&SxSJ_Concept_Shot_2

The adidas Consortium - United Arrows & Sons x Slam Jam collaboration will be available October 7th in store and online.

  • YME Staff Favorites: Sofia

This season, YME Universe will include several series of "Staff Favorites", where our employee's will give you a private tour of the top 5 things they're craving right now and their seasonal favorites from our universe.

    yme2509-6

Next in line is Sofia, our trilingual sneaker-princess of the first floor. Sofia loves chunky sneakers, but also loves classic old school models from Vans. Sofia mixes skateboarding models with iconic basketball shoes like no other and that's why we wanted to know which shoes for AW17 she likes the most.

    yme2509-18

It's a chunky silhouette and a true statement piece. It's the type of shoe that's right there in your face. The AIR written on the side also stands out with the blue leather - which I really like.

    yme2509-14

I like these Vans a lot because it's old school and brings a certain nostalgia with the check print. It's a true, never-out-of-style model and colour-way - you can't really go wrong with a pair of Vans. I love the colour combination on this Air Zoom Mariah right here, it's so sleek and minimal, yet very fashion forward for the season. Bright colours in the sneaker game is always a win for me.

    yme2509-15

This one is so wild I had to include it in my top 5 sneakers right now. It's like a shoe from space, it has so many textures and elements too it. It's a bit crazy and farfetched - which I like. I also love these sleek Raf Simons sneakers a lot, I recently purchased them and haven't regretted one bit. I love Raf Simons and feel like this shoe is the perfect balance between function and style.

  • Off---White's Flap Bag returns

Many of you may already own a classic flap bag, what we want to discuss is the Off---White version that has taken several years to perfect. The Off---White Flap Bag returns to YME Universe this season in new colours and textures.

    yme2209-35

14 x 19 x 9 cm is apparently the perfect number and the perfect size for the boxy, fits all bag from Off---White c/o Virgil Abloh. This season we're seeing more sleek and minimal versions of the iconic bag - now in solid colours for that extra colour pop to any outfit.

    yme2209-28

Crafted in Italy from calf leather, this bag also features a binder clip, a foldover top, a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap, an engraved logo on a binder clip embellishment, a main internal compartment, an internal zipped pocket and an internal logo.

    yme2209-23
All bags come with this season's most important styling element, the industrial strap - which gives the bag a more laid-back and casual look, just in time for the forthcoming autumn winter season.
  • adidas Consortium // Overkill // Fruition

adidas Consortium is excited to unveil the latest instalment of the Sneaker Exchange 2017, a collaboration between OVERKILL and FRUITION celebrating contemporary womanhood, high fashion and the evolving nature of female sneakers.

    Overkill-x-Fruition-EQT_1_Optimized

In recent years, the women’s footwear market has evolved hugely. Today’s sneakers must convey elegance and femininity while remaining both comfortable and highly wearable. To meet this demand, more and more female-exclusive retailers have emerged. This edition of the Sneaker Exchange 2017 brings two of those retailers together. Taipei-based store FRUITION is paired with Germany’s OVERKILL – a long-term fixture on the global sneaker scene which recently opened a women’s branch in its native Berlin-Kreuzberg.

    Overkill-x-Fruition-EQT_2_Optimized

Prior to the Sneaker Exchange 2017, the two stores had never interacted. adidas Consortium challenged them to overcome cultural differences, a language-barrier and almost 9,000 km in distance to begin a dialogue, discover common ground and deliver a bold, exciting sneaker pack. Together FRUITION and OVERKILL present a true highlight of the Consortium calendar.

    Overkill-x-Fruition-TUBULAR_2_Optimized

The pack takes the EQT Lacing and the Tubular Doom and portrays them in a fresh light. FRUITION and OVERKILL discussed use of tweed in iconic French couture, determining to express this through colorway and fabric choices for their collaborative design. Further, both partners communicated a strong desire to create footwear that articulates rebellion, individuality and empowerment. The overall aim was to juxtapose high fashion with the energy of modern womanhood.

    Overkill-x-Fruition-MIXED_2_Optimized

The EQT Lacing is constructed using plush velour with a translucent outsole. Its satin finish implies femininity and the overall model captures the rebelliousness the partners strived for.

    Overkill-x-Fruition-TUBULAR_1_Optimized

It is the first time a Tubular product has been selected for use in the Sneaker Exchange. Its unmistakable silhouette is the elegant basis for further exploration of the theme. The more avant-garde of the duo, it looks like high-concept footwear from the future.

    BB5047_DET_Back_Optimized

The final result is an outstanding footwear pack, high on individuality with impressive attention to detail. The partners worked alongside Consortium to deliver two models designed to appear striking in isolation but also complement the wearer’s clothing. Both models capture an essence of modern womanhood: elegance, beauty, fierceness and strength, fusing comfort and wearability.
